1. Draw the outline of your irrigation block with cadlines. Perhaps you need an arc because your block is right next to a pivot. Whatever the case is, its easiest to have your block drawn in cad so that the actual irrigation block can be defined by tracking your cad outline.

2. From the Irrigation menu’s block tab, select Add New. Then select Define irregular area. Press spacebar to open the snapmodes menu. Select the tracK option an click on your cad outline.

3. Select Micro/Drip from the Blocks tab to place micro drip laterals along the line of an arc. From the Pipes tab, select Cad Circle underneath ADD/CUT Pipe&Node.  Follow the steps to space your laterals appropriately along the line of the arc. One step is to select the circle in which case you would point to the arc side of the block. The result should be a block filled with laterals along the line of the arc.

One way is to make use of our new Point Cloud Viewer.

To make use of this utility, follow these steps.

1. Download the MMS Point Cloud Viewer from here. After the download finished, run the downloaded file.

2. The MMS Point Cloud Viewer utility will be placed in your Model Maker Systems folder.

You can access it from Start/All Programs.

Run the utility.

3. With Model Maker open and some data loaded, use the Virtual 3D button to carry the data over to the Point Cloud Viewer.

From here on you will be able to view and manipulate your model in 3D.

Note:

a) The Point Cloud Viewer does not replace Model Maker’s standard 3D functions, but serves as a more universal alternative.

b) The triangles can be edited from inside the Point Cloud Viewer as well as from inside Model Maker.

1. In order to utilize Layers, elements have to be on specific layers.

Newly created elements will be on the Cad layer or the last used layer.

To place an element on a different layer, click on the pencil button from the right menu.

This will present the Pen Attribute window from which a different layer can be picked, or a new one be entered.

2. Turning layers on and off are done from the Layers window.

3. By clicking on the display field in line with the layer, one can toggle between the disp and no show states.

The effect will only be displayed after the window is closed. For immediate effect, hold down shift while clicking the toggle.

In today’s quicktip we have a block that is 1ha or 10,000 m2.

Dividing this block into 10 smaller individual ones can be done in a few steps.

Click the Auto button on the Blocks tab with the given block selected.

The Calculations and Blocks window will appear.

On this window, select the Flow that will be available to the area.

This factor will will be used to obtain the No. of blocks as well as Block size.

Once those settings have been made, click Divide in blocks.

Draw a line to indicate the base of the divided blocks.

After visually seeing what the divided blocks will look like, confirm their generation.

Turning of the display of the original block will clearly show the new divided blocks.

At this point each block can be edited and filled with laterals.

In Irrimaker the irrigation node interpolates its elevation when initially placed on a DTM model. If the model is not available, the node elevation will be zero. When you later on place a DTM model underneath the irrigation design, the program is not automatically going to change the elevations. The Automatic Elevation function must be used for that.

You might have STARTED your irrigation without a DTM survey model and all the nodes ended up on a zero elevation. When a DTM is later available and you want to set all the irrigation nodes to the correct value, follow these steps:

To get the heights from the ground model and apply it to the nodes you should use the Automatic Elevation option.

Without checking the box, only the current block will be interpolated. Checking the box will re-evaluate all the blocks.

After completing the procedure, you will notice the nodes all have correct heights obtained from the DTM ground model.

First head over to the demo download page.

Once you are there, enter Your Name, Company and Email.

Press the Submit to receive the download link in your email.

Click the IrriMaker Demo (Click to download) link.

The MM_Full.exe file will be downloaded.

Irrimaker is made up of a few Model Maker modules and that is why the file name is MM_Full.

After the download is complete, double click the downloaded file and select OK.

At this point you just have to go through the installation procedure.

Select Run and Next for all the following windows until you reach the Finish button.

Once the installation is complete you will find a Model Maker Systems folder in your All Programs window.

Go ahead and run the Mmw.exe inside the Model Maker Systems folder.

Once Model Maker runs you will be presented with the startup window from which you should choose Run in DEMO mode.

At this stage you will be presented with a complete Model Maker interface.

A. The top toolbar controls the visual appearance as well as configuration.

B. The left sidebar is mostly in charge of accessing the different modules.
